My scholarly work is primarily driven by practice-based or teaching questions. For instance my practice serves the area’s under-served and vulnerable populations with healthcare disparities. I look for gaps in care and measure the impact or quality of care using national benchmarks or the delivery of healthcare services and practice transformation. Some examples of my research includes the assessment of predictors of poor medication adherence; relationship of health literacy and medication adherence, relationship of provider adherence to pharmacotherapy in chronic heart failure to prevent hospital re-admissions, diabetes and incretin-based therapies or insulin, and increasing tobacco cessation services and implementing a sustainable practice model. Finally, teaching is a passion of mine and I am interested in developing new programs and measuring the quality and impact of the teaching both in the classroom and at the experiential site.
